Water Fast
Tree of life root to all fitness your with the man himself, Tree!
This time I’m going to be talking about water fasting and ketosis. Some people think water fasting means not drinking water, but actually it means the complete opposite, not eating anything and only drinking water. Now this is not me just talking about something I haven’t got experience in, or something I haven’t done myself! I’ve actually done 28 days of water fasting before. But I’m more than likely going to do a video of what I experienced while I did my 28 day water fast. I didn’t vlog the day to day experience, but I do have pictures of before and after the fast, which I will more than likely put up at the end of that video. So make sure you look out for that video. And at the time of me recording this video I’m actually doing a 7 day, one week water fast. Depending on how I feel, I might extend it to 10 days. But I will be doing a day to day post on how I feel, especially because when I did the 28 day water fast was about 6-7 years ago now and back then I wasn’t thinking about vlogging.
Anyway enough about the past, let’s get to the water fast.
But before I start, let me give my disclaimer, this is not for children, people who have type 1 and 2 diabetes, pregnant women or women who are breast feeding, people who are underweight, people with eating disorders, or anyone who suffers from heart problems or migraines. Older adults and people who have gout.
A lot of people say you can’t survive without food. Or why would you do a water fast? Don’t you like food? Well imma give you some things to think about if your wondering why people such as myself do water fasting. I know everyone doesn’t go to the gym, but for those that do, you couldn’t go do the gym every day for a month and work on on arms or chest or the same body part every day for a month! Why’s that? For those of you who don’t know the answer, your body or muscles need to rest and recover! So my question to you is, when do you let your digestive system and stomach rest and recover? I’ll wait.
But let me give you a different example, back in the day whether your talking from a black man perspective or from caveman perspective(cos there was no black cavemen). When it got to winter, you couldn’t eat any food because the crops would be frozen over and the animals would be hibernating. Even if you was in a area where there was polar bears for instance, you probably wouldn’t have enough clothing to protect yourself in extreme snow conditions going out for a long hunting trip, and there probably wouldn’t be enough people to carry the animals you kill back to your village or area your travelling from. Remember, there would be no vehicles and even if you miraculously got the animal to your area, there’s no fridges to preserve the food. Then you gotta think how much people can one animal feed? Not enough for a whole area or a whole village. So your body has reserved fat to keep you warm and deal with winter conditions where you won’t get food like that! So my question is, when do kick in to that reserve fat? I’ll wait!
Also when you sleep, your body is supposed to heal you, that’s why when you a big meal, you feel tired after it’s digested properly. Because your body is saying to you I can’t handle all of this food I need time to break it all down(depending on what you eat) and I need to sleep to heal and help me do this. A lot of the time we eat so much that when we sleep our bodies don’t have time to heal us because it’s working on breaking down food.
Let give you an example that I’m sure a lot of us have been through where your body is trying to tell you it wants to heal through not eating but we just bypass what our body is telling us. When you have a bad flu, you don’t want to or you don’t feel like eating, all you want to do is rest and recover! But instead of listening to your body, you get a soup to trick your body into getting food because your body digests drink different from food, but that’s a whole another video. Some people might say they have never felt like that and there’s an exception to everything. But when I make this point to people, majority say that’s so true, I never thought about that before. If you have felt like before, leave a thumbs up in the comments.
Once you start eating from a child, you don’t stop. A lot of people eat 3 times a day and they eat things that eventually harm your body in the long term. So at some you need to give your body and digestive system a rest. I’m sure most people have heard of the saying “everything in moderation”, but when it comes to food, you pick what food you eat in moderation. So you’ll say eat sweets in moderation or eat ice cream in moderation, but you won’t have a break from eating. Not even for one day! There’s another saying I’m sure everyone has heard of, “to much of one thing is not good”, or “to much of anything is bad”. Why is eating not included when it comes to that saying?!
Some people try different types of diets to help give their digestive system a rest and help them lose weight. A diet that is popular for this is the Keto diet. Which is short for ketogenic diet. That diet consists of you eating high fat and protein, no carbs or very, very low carbs. That puts your body into Ketosis. Ketosis is a process that happens when your body doesn't have enough carbohydrates to burn for energy. Instead, it burns fat and makes things called ketones, which it can use for fuel. What is it burning, your reserved fat that you never kick in to. Some say ketosis is the best system for your body to run on, because it has numerous benefits like, promotes weight loss, kills cancer cells, improves acne, reduces epileptic seizures, protects brain function, reduces cholesterol and improves heart health. Now your probably wondering why I started breaking down what a Keto diet is. Well the reason for that is when you do a water fast, your body goes into Ketosis. You will see the benefits of ketosis if you follow my journey and keep an eye out for my upcoming posts and videos
